Our Range of Veterinary Diagnostics

Dogs and cats often have injuries or illnesses invisible to the eye and difficult to detect. Because companion animals may not express pain directly, experience and technology become important for helping your pet. The doctors at Pacific Animal Hospital are highly trained in the area of diagnostics, using a combination of physical examination, laboratory testing, and diagnostic imaging technology.

To locate the source of your pet’s discomfort, we use minimally invasive techniques that offer the maximum in veterinary information:

Radiography

Pacific Animal Hospital offers our clients the latest in radiography: digital X-rays. This type of imaging digitizes the information so our doctors see a very detailed view on a computer screen.

Digital radiography is excellent for such needs as viewing a broken bone, size and shape of internal organs, or for a thorough dental evaluation.

Ultrasound

Diagnostic ultrasonography, or ultrasound, is an imaging technique widely used to examine internal organs for disease or injury. Ultrasound may also be used in guiding the veterinarian in performing procedures such as biopsies or fluid drainage. This safe and painless technology is also often used to diagnose or monitor pregnant pets.

Electrocardiography

Available on-site at Pacific Animal Hospital, ECG service is essential in diagnosing or monitoring progress in heart disease in pets. In addition, we are able to arrange consultations with veterinary cardiology specialists for those pets with unusual or complex heart problems.

On-Site Veterinary Laboratory

Blood work such as serum chemistry, hematology, and serology in addition to examination of urine and parasite testing are all performed here at Pacific for accurate and rapid results. Additionally, we have access to commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostics and consultations.

For skilled diagnosis, management, and nonsurgical treatment of any veterinary disease, the veterinarians of Pacific Animal Hospital offer excellence in veterinary internal medicine.
